Abstract 436

Ekphrastic Poetry Writing for Teachers

Presentation:  Sandra Filippelli

Session F | 11:50- 12:30 | Location: Room 1328

Abstract:

In my current investigation of my teaching practice, I am working on arts based research poetic inquiry and a/r/tography. In this presentation, I wish to focus on how creating ekphrastic poetry projects based on visual art or a trip to a garden, such as Nitobe, can invigorate the writing practices of teachers as well as their students. When teachers deepen their own contemplative and artistic processes, they gain a sense of personal and professional fulfillment while inspiring and mentoring their students.
