Science is a body of knowledge that represents current understanding of natural phenomenon and the focal point of technological developments worldwide. Science teaching and learning being what it is as the fulcrum of nation building can not be driven by a narrow scope and sequence. It is not a subject that can be practiced in isolation or perhaps in exclusive of social interaction. Over the years, Science teachers have failed to acknowledge the fact that students have well developed ideas around many concepts in science even long before their formal exposure to such ideas within the four walls of classroom. Basically, such ideas and meanings are not simply isolated misconception but are part of a complex structure which provides a sensible and coherent explanation of the natural world from the students’ point of view. However, one of the goals of science instruction is to make students think, behave and solve problems scientifically. It follows according to the old Chinese proverb that “he who must kindle others must himself glow” and so, if teachers must help the students in learning, they must have the right conceptions of science. Therefore, this study embraces teacher preparation that accommodates processes of acquisition and retention of scientific concepts particularly by tuning theory into practice.
